Vintage 1880s English Monogrammed Inlaid Lawn Balls soups small sailboatMade of imported lignum vitae wood inlaid with bone, the densest and hardest wood, these 19th century balls were made for lawn bowling, a 13th century sport still played on courts in the United Kingdom. Also known as Bowls or Lawn Bowls, players try to roll their ball closest to a smaller ball. The bowls are heavier on one side so that they turn when being rolled and may be played one on one or in teams.
